We are currently in the midst of the fourth industrial revolution, a movement defined by several waves of new technologies that combine the digital and physical worlds.

The shift to digital, now fully underway, is already having major consequences for organizations, whether in terms of work structure, lines of business, processes or even business models. These changes represent major challenges for which organizations are trying to prepare as best they can. In managing digital transformation, it is also important to work on digital skills development.

Beyond the technical aspects, digital skills mainly include a dimension of information management, communication and collaboration. These include the ability to obtain and manage digital information, the ability to convey that information appropriately to the audience and digital media used, or to work in a coordinated way in online teams.

The social-emotional component of digital skills, that is, the ability to adopt the right behaviors and understand others online, should also be emphasized.

And it is also necessary to increase awareness of digital threats. Cybercriminals are becoming more skilled and malicious as the world goes digital. This means new threats that could have a huge impact on our personal and professional lives. Digital threat awareness means being conscious of the dangers of using the Internet or digital devices and having the tools to keep safe.

Digital literacy thus becomes a key 21st century skill for teachers and students.
